Safe MMA are working together with fighters and promoters to take a comprehensive look into brain health.

This will include asking some fighters to have MRI and MRA tests for analysis. They are particularly interested in CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy), which is s caused by repeated head impact and leads to a progressive loss in brain function such as thinking behaviour and mood.

Understanding brain health and the potential effects of MMA as a sport on the brain is very important to enable us to make MMA as safe as it can be.
